Impossible Flora

Impossible Flora is a collection of blown glass sculptures exploring how botanical structures can be replicated and abstracted through material process. Drawing reference from flowers, fungi, coral and plant life, I develop each piece into an imagined organism that feels both familiar and otherworldly. Gravity and movement are central to my process, balancing technical control with material-led forming to replicate the qualities of natural growth. Through the layering of hotshop processes, I build each piece to imitate the detail and structures found within botanical life. Each individual piece stands as its own distinct organism, together forming an imagined botanical ecosystem. Photography by Simon Bruntnell.
